CMMS Software Made Simple

Human beings, electricity, and water all have a very common trait when it comes to work flow. All three will instinctively take the path of least resistance when presented with an option. When presented with a task, humans will quickly figure out the quickest and easiest way to accomplish the work. When related to work processes, this can sometimes spell trouble because the easiest way, may not be the right way.

So the question we must ask is: Why can’t the right way of doing work also be the easiest way of doing work? When it comes to using your manufacturing plant, we believe that your CMMS software should be efficient and easy.

The Problem with Most CMMS Software

Take for instance maintenance software packages. Many times I have seen mechanics lined up at a computer terminal waiting for their turn to quickly enter daily data into a traditional CMMS software so they can head home for the day. When questioned, the maintenance employee will tell you that they’re compelled through discipline or some other means to account for their time.

These archaic systems do not drive the right behavior. Instead, they often drive discouragement, apathy and always, false or incomplete data. Why must CMMS software also be so difficult to use?

Beyond CMMS Software

Thankfully, due to new mobile technology and new Cloud-based applications like L2L's CloudDISPATCH, mechanics, engineers, quality techs and others, have the ability to input information into a real-time system while on the shop floor directly into their mobile device. This new advantage allows for a more free flow of accurate data as the work is performed.

Machine history data is instantly available, spare parts usage is documented as consumed, costs are associated directly to the reactive or proactive event, and most important, employees feel motivated because they can see real-time that their input is making a difference in the overall process.

We have a saying here at L2L that sums up the approach to making work easy: “Stop putting your processes through the Complexicator and start putting them through the Simplifier”. If you do this, you will be amazed at the quality and content of work that comes out the other end.
